What it is not:
Lettuce Innkeeper will not manage your online reservations. At
our Inn and Motel, we use BookingCenter's Management tool for our online reservations.
There are many other similar programs, all relatively inexpensive - generally you
pay commissions on whatever reservations people make online, and you manage it carefully
to insure you don’t overbook. If you have a high volume of online reservations -
this program is definitely not for you.
If you need extras features such as Phone interfaces, Restaurant or other POS systems,
Pay movies, or any type of automatic charges other than Room & Tax, this program
is not for you.
This program will not work on Multiple Work Stations or across a network.
It works on one computer for one user. If your operation is bigger than
that, this is not the program for you.
Lettuce Innkeeper will not interface with your back-office system, your bookkeeping
program or your bank account. It will not charge anyone’s credit card, it will not
interface with your Web Cam for Guest Snaps or your Drivers License Credit Card
Swipe Card Reader. Lettuce Innkeeper will not manage your Lost and Found, will not
bother you with Guest Flight Information and does not do Wake-Up calls. If you need
these things, they are available in more expensive programs. Lettuce Innkeeper will
not keep track of any Travel Agent information whatsoever.
Other things you should know:
It is very easy with this desktop PMS program to manage small groups, and occasional direct
billing, but if you often handle larger groups with rooming lists, you will find
entering each individual reservation irritating, even with the handy "clone" feature.
The program works well with small groups that want to hold a block of rooms, then
individuals call in to book and guarantee their own reservations.
This program can charge and track two taxes: Sales Tax and Other Tax.
Currency is only in American dollars only. Payment Types are set as Cash, Visa,
Discover, MasterCard, American Express, Gift Certificate and Other.
You do need a separate method to actually charge the credit cards - This program
will only keep track of it for you.
Lettuce Innkeeper has been tested thoroughly on Windows XP and Vista. I believe it will
work reliably on any modern Microsoft system as it was developed using Microsoft's
.NET platform and various Microsoft tools. I would not expect it to work on an Apple
or Unix, or whatever else is out there. Before you buy, I recommend downloading
the free Demo program to be sure.
This is a personal desktop program; your data is stored on your computer. Customer’s
guarantee card numbers are encrypted in the database, and log-in is required to
run the program and access its information.
Database backups are automatic every hour and upon closing the program, and can also be done anytime
through the menu.
Support is available through E-mail only; any critical updates of this version will be free
for one year from date of purchase.
